case study – logo design and branding
In April of this year we were commissioned to redesign the stationery range for KennCo Underwriting Limited one of Irelands leading underwriting agencies servicing a network of over 500 insurance brokers nationwide.
Before we began we felt it was important to review the existing logo design and brand and having done so we approached the client fully aware that they would have a belief in their already established brand. But we felt strongly that the small changes we could bring to the logo would have a big impact for them and their logo and ultimately their brand. We were delighted when they took that leap of faith, but, they asked us to hold the ‘essence’ of their logo, they didn’t want all the good will they had spent time building up to be lost.
Our first task was to improve the legibility of the company name, we achieved this by changing the font and then addressing the kerning and spacing of each letter within the name. We added a bit of personality to the shape by rounding the corners and we mimicked these curves within the stars. Finally we realigned the stars with the top of the letters K and C. The changes while subtle, vastly improve the legibility of the logo and add more of a personality to the brand helping KennCo to become brand leader in the insurance broker market.
Improving, growing and updating your logo and brand is so important (see blog piece – talk about…logo design and branding) with a rapidly changing world it is so important for us to keep our logo design/brands moving with it…the smallest changes can have a big impact.

I am not really wonderful with English but I find this rattling easy to read.
Super inforamtive writing; keep it up.
I suggest adding a “google+” button for the blog!

You’re on top of the game. Thanks for shairng.
Good – I should certainly pronounce, impressed with your site. I had no trouble navigating through all tabs and related info ended up being truly simple to access. Excellent task.
I totally agree with you on this. Its important for graphic designers to also acknowledge that many slight variations of the logo/branding may be required for online and sponosorship/promotional purposes in addition to print.
